The Big Draw
Between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 13th October people of all ages were invited to drop in to this free event and create their own double page spread for ‘The Longest Little Book’. On arrival each child and each adult was given a ‘secret’ envelope containing a folded sheet of A5 card and their brief for the project. There were six briefs altogether, representing different parts of the story which was about the adventures of a little red hat. In part one, the hat is in a hat shop and the person taking part had to imagine what happens next – for example, is the hat stolen, does it fly out of the window etc. In other parts of the story the hat is lost in the forest, floating down the river, underground, in the park, and finally at home.
People taking part then used a rubber stamp to put the image of the hat on their page as a starting point, then went to a table and used the drawing and collage materials provided to create their own unique portion of the story.
